Hunterz can’t trap to save their *****

huntard

Why is it that on a kara run hunters are never expected to trap? Mages are always sheeping, locks are constantly banishing and rogues are sapping. Hell even healers are more prone to ccing through schakle and cyclone than hunters are to trapping. Why oh why is it that the hunter generally gets left out of this cc rotation?

Let me put forth the general word on the street (or wow forums,) “Huntard.”

Now as you may have guessed I have never played a hunter. This is not because of the class itself - infact I think that having a pet to tank while autoshotting everything to level 70 seems quite fun. I would also love to laugh at mages as I viper sting them to death in under 30 secs in arenas. No, the real reason is that I don’t want the stigma that comes with being a hunter. Thinking about it, there are a lot fewer hunters at high ratings in arena. This is of course down to their class abilities. I am by no means labelling every single hunter in the world a “huntard”… its just that most of them are.

Druid/hunter anyone? Hell even priest/hunter is decent. I really can’t see any other reason for the lack of skilled hunters in arena.

Its not just pvp either. Back to the kara run. We are at a group of mobs and our ccers include a mage, warlock and hunter. We need 3 mobs cced to avoid wiping and so the sheep and banish are quickly assigned. But who will cc the third?

Raid leader: “Er we really need that last mob cced. Shall we trap it?”
Hunter: “I can give it a shot I guess.”
Everyone: “No!”
Hunter: “What?! I have been raiding for over a year… I really think that I know how to trap a mob in kara ffs!”
Raid leader: “Ok fine the drood can cycone it in between spam healing the MT then.”

So we decided to give the task to a druid who is trying to heal our seriously undergeared main tank rather than a hunter who could simply lay a trap and then dps. I think this illustrates the lack of trust about hunters in the wow community. One day it may become customary to place a trap rather than sheep. Until that day “huntards” will always have a stigma attached to them. Perhaps it is because most of the “young adults” or 12 year olds that play decide to play hunters because “OMG IT HAZ A PETZ??!?!!”

  1. A-freaking-men. A well played hunter can trap with the best of them and keep on trapping. Fortunately, I haven’t run into that problem, but thanks to the “Huntard” stigma, I have run into my fair share of classism. Haha, classism. I made a new word. :)

  2. Lol I reckon that could be in the dictionary.

  3. Careful calling them “Huntards”

    You may offend

I recently received a 24 hour ban on the official WOW forums for pointing out that even Huntards are prefered over RETards (Ret Pallies)

Someone got offended and reported me.

I am a MAGE and proud.

  4. Thats why most call them retadins and not just an offensive unaltered real-world word. The post is quite clearly joking and this is not the wow forums so I won’t ban myself :)

  5. My only issue with this is that Hunters form of ccing is very skill based were as all the other ones u mentioned are click and ur done. What a typical hunter needs to do is lay there trap 30 seconds before to make sure the cooldown timer is ready for them to lay another trap to continue keep the mobb cced. Were is all the other types of ccing is cast a spell and your done. I do agree that there is a stigma assoicated with Hunters but you never know until u give them a try to see if there are compatent which is the real shame because you might miss the oppurtunity of meeting a great hunter.
